Phenomenal Art Glass

The examples shown here are a few of the many custom made pieces created during the past twenty-five years by designer Debbie McLelland. This part of our portfolio section showcases original designs and techniques formulated through years of study and a deep respect for the intricate and difficult aspects involved in the creation of beautiful Art Glass. Discover an unbelievable command of design skill representing the depth and talents of this artist, and the basis for her established reputation. While inspecting designing skills you will see: intricate Tiffany-like detailing, bold dashes of color and texture, and Debbie's style of incorporating technical elements one into the other without breaking the "flow" of a design.

Our "Phenomenal Art Glass" graces collections here in the United States as well as Europe and Asia. Perhaps this portfolio section will entice your creative passion for fine art, and we will "dazzle" you even further as you view our extensive web site. See examples of sandblasted glass, three-dimensional structure, kiln-fired glass fusion, hand-painted clay tiles, and painting on glass.

Centuries ago, European masters developed a technique rarely used or perfected by most modern day artists, "Painting on Glass." Our pieces entitled, "Madame Butterfly," and "Carolyn's Texas," exhibit the use of this ancient process of glass painting. In the early Gothic period, craftsman would mix their paints from powdered pigments, apply them wet, stipple the designs into the dried paint and then bake the glass which permanently imbedded the colors. Since 1981, our studio has been painting on glass, going through the same time consuming processes as ancient artisans, except, our glass is kiln-fired, and the temperatures range between 1100º - 1350º F.

A final thought . . . after many centuries of mainly being recognized as church art, stained glass and the art of painting on it, have become a unique expression of today's contemporary art. And, let's not forget, glass by its very nature is already a magical medium.

Please Note: Because of shipping costs and the danger of breakage during transit, all Art Glass commissions are restricted to local clientele.
